Rent Cheap Car in Melbourne

April 14, 2009

I actually didn’t even know you could rent cars this cheap.

Rent a Toyota Corolla for $35 a day or  a week for only $175!

Or how about a Ford Falcon for only $43 a day

Or that family trip – rent a toyota tarago with 8 seats for only $154 for a week.

All incredible value. You see all these options by clicking here and here.

Cheers, rentoid team.

March 9, 2009

Alright! So here’s the 411:

University is back! (well at least down here in sunny-one-day, rainy-the-next Melbourne, it is).

Here is the inescapable truth; Uni books are way too expensive for any self respecting uni student to spend all their hard earned on!

I mean come on – beer Vs uni books. Everyone knows who wins that battle. Hell, one book will set you back a minimum of 100 large (and we’re talking bare minimum here)! Multiply that by four or ask the Maths nerds to do it for you… and you’ll soon realise the hip pocket is about to go for ten rounds with Mohamed “the credit card” Ali!

So what’s the solution?

Simple! Don’t buy uni books… RENT THEM!

And it’s so easy. Rent out your old books from last semester then use that cash to pay for the rental of this semester’s books… It’s the perfect solution.

This means you’ll be getting this years Uni books for free… Brilliant, we know!

You’re welcome.

Check out a few books here and then put some of your own to work and start making money!

Will Jason wear your shirt?

December 8, 2008

Will he wear your shirt?

At RentoidHQ we like to see people doing innovative things. Jason is outsourcing his wardrobe for the year – he will wear a different shirt every day of 2009 and blog and tweet about it.

Here is his blog.

Here is his twitter account.

Here is his flickr account.

Rentoid owns Thursday 2nd of April (we didn’t want to be fools on April 1st) and we’re going to rent it out to you.

Here is our spot on the calendar :

Kids & Money – Lauren Greenfield

December 2, 2008

Here’s a trailer from the film Kids & Money which was produced by Lauren Greenfield. Lauren has done some great work to critical acclaim on areas including Youth Culture, Gender, Body image, eating disorders and general popular culture.

At rentoid – the truth is we have some of these High end Rockstar items for rent, and I wonder if we are exacerbating the situation….  or helping people save money?

Maybe some savvy kids will use the site to start a mini entreprenurial business?

At a minimum I hope we are at least giving people the option for a smarter allocation of their scarce resources.

Rentoid in Top 100

November 26, 2008

Here at Rentoid HQ we have set our sights on the target of being one of the Top 100 websites in Australia.

According to Nielsen (with thanks to @eunmac on twitter) that means we will need 487,000 unique visitors each month.

Big Hairy Audacious Goal? Definitely. Let’s make it happen.

LA Motor Show – Green car of the year

November 26, 2008

The LA motor show is on and Greencar has just announced its green car of the year. here’s a cool youtube video on it for rentoiders to watch.

It’s the VW Jetta TDI. We’d be interested to hear your thoughts. Yep.

Road Rage!

November 21, 2008

Today’s little thought from Rentoid HQ:

Have you ever been the victim, offender or witness to a bit of good old fashioned ‘road rage’?

Most of you will have answered “Yes” to at least one of the above right?

It’s always the same old story;

Someone gets cut off by another vehicle and thus suddenly feels the urge to hang their torso out the window yelling obscenities and hurling hand gestures in the ‘offenders’ general direction.

Now think about this situation;

You accidentally bump into someone in the street. There is never any yelling, rude hand gestures or cursing. Generally there is a lot of “oh sorry mate” and universal politeness.

So what’s different??

Just because we are surrounded by big ugly metal boxes with four wheels we suddenly forget the fact that we’re dealing with another human being. Why do we forget to be polite and personable while driving? Worst still, why is it the ‘norm’ to abuse other road users?

Next time someone cuts you off on the road, think about how you would act on the street, face to face…  And act accordingly.

The Guy in the Glass

November 20, 2008

The Guy in the Glass

by Dale Wimbrow, (c) 1934

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,

And the world makes you King for a day,

Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,

And see what that guy has to say.

For it isn’t your Father, or Mother, or Wife,

Who judgement upon you must pass.

The feller whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He’s the feller to please, never mind all the rest,

For he’s with you clear up to the end,

And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test

If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,

And think you’re a wonderful guy,

But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum

If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass,

But your final reward will be heartaches and tears

If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

This is an amazing piece of poetry a friend of mine recently recited to me. Written by Dale Wimbrow in 1934 it still has such relevance today. Each of you will take something unique and different from it; so take from it what is valuable to you…

It doesn’t directly have anything to do with renting or Rentoid, but it’s a poem that struck a chord with all of us here at Rentoid HQ and although some of you may already know it, we thought it would be valuable to share with you all.

You do the math

November 6, 2008

Below is a photo of two items which are regular rental items: A family car vs a paint spray gun.

We don’t have to be a maths genious to work out that it’s a far better return on investment renting out the spray gun. It’s a wopping 50% Return on Investment…. versus a too small to calculate return on investment for the car.

The point is the renter is still getting a massive benefit in renting out the Spray gun even though ther ROI is very high for the owner who is renting it out.

The benefits to the person who rents the spray gun instead of buying it include:

– Still saves 50% of the cash to buy one

– Doesn’t have to store it and let it gather dust

– It’s better for the environment to have one less spray gun

– They get to meet someone in their local area

– Both parties win financially.

So the point to all you rentoiders out there is. Put some stuff up there to rent and you’ll be surprised at the returns on investment you can get. Some are very, very good. And everyone still wins.  It’d be worth checking out the prices to buy some items and do a mini entrpreneurial project.

And of course if you need any help and ideas on how to do it call us any time

Cheers, rentoid team.
